Other palm research at the University of Aarhus
Palms have been the subject of intensive research at the Department of Systematic Botany for a number of years.
The herbarium houses large collections of around 5000 specimens palms collected mainly in South America and SE Asia , but also in other tropical regions. A substantial amount of literature and other information about palms has accumulated.
We have also received many thousand palm-specimens on loan for study and information gathered from these specimens have been accumulated in various databases.
The studies have covered a broad spectrum from taxonomy, systematics, anatomy, community ecology, pollination, reproductive ecology, etc, and a vast knowledge base, covering many aspects of palm biology is available at our department.
